Usually, when we first experience change in business or in life, our first instinct is fear or panic. Right now, a lot of businesses are experiencing the shift in our economy and it can be frightening if you aren't adapting to it and figuring out where and how to tweak your marketing approach. Plus, in times like we're experiencing now, we often shrink or shy away from risks that we would have easily taken not so long ago in our business. But, this is not what successful businesses do to continue to be at the top of your game and emerge as a leader in the wedding industry.
Where are the brides? Look for brides in large numbers. It takes just as much effort to market to one bride as it does one thousand. So go for the larger numbers. Where do they hang out? What are they reading? What websites do they frequent? Who else does your ideal bride work with? You need to be there too!
Where are the vendors who share your same approach and sentiments about wedding planning? Attracting all the brides you need into your business means also being vendor-attractive. Brides ask other vendors for referrals and recommendations. They want to know that their wedding team loves working together because brides know that their wedding will be much more fabulous if everyone works better as a collective for a common goal (to produce an incredible wedding day).
What are brides buying? Are brides not buying your services like they used to? Survey them! What do they want? What do they not want? Just because you want to sell something your way doesn't mean that brides want to buy it! That is a HUGE obstacle for many wedding vendors. To really make m.oney, you must offer packages, products and services that brides need and want for their wedding.
Tap into the bride who will never buy! That's right, you read this correctly reach out to brides who would never buy your services because you're too expensive or you're a luxury service that's not necessary for them right now. While you're getting brides into your business who you want to work with for your higher-priced items, offer something for the bride who wouldn't buy. Lead workshops teaching brides how to do it all themselves, give them e-books to download instantly to walk them through the process, or create manuals to help them with their approach. (We've done just this with our Plan Your Wedding Bootcamp product for brides and they LOVE IT!) Your Bride Attraction Assignment: Don't just wait for something to happen to you in your wedding business.
Be proactive. Adapting and adjusting your wedding business is an ongoing process, not just in a slower economy. When you survey, reach out, research, and act on the changes happening in your current environment, miracles happen in your business and the brides call consistently and constantly!
