What's Love Got To Do With It?

Have you ever noticed that person who has tried to sell you something and you could tell that they absolutely 100% had no heart in their business? Entrepreneurs and sales people who don't love what they're doing don't have that extra something behind the sale. If you look into their eyes, they look miserable and dead inside. Is that the kind of impression you want to give brides in your business?
So what do you do if you've lost that "lovin' feeling" in your bridal business?
Get back to basics. Why did you start your company? What made you want to work with brides in the first place?
I can remember a few years back when I absolutely hated what I was doing.
I had so much business that I couldn't stand it anymore. (This was before I had an awesome support team and fabulous systems to keep me sane.) And the funny thing was that brides started picking up on it. They could tell that there was no passion in my voice. I seemed to be checked out of the sales process. I wasn't listening to brides like I used to. I was miserable .and it showed.
So, before I let this totally derail my business, I got real with myself. I made a list of things I loved about being a wedding planner and designer. And I also made a list of what I hated. The funny thing was that I didn't dislike that much it was just that the things I didn't enjoy doing had taken over any ounce of joy that was present.
Then I took my "love list" and my "dread list" and compared them. It became clear quickly that I could *easily* delegate all of those things that I resented doing and only focus on my love, joy and passion of what started me in this fabulous industry. As entrepreneurs (and especially women entrepreneurs), many of us tend to think that we must do it all. I used to tell people that being an entrepreneur and CEO meant doing everything from the marketing to cleaning the toilets. Boy was I wrong. In fact, because of this old belief, I almost destroyed my own business.

If you hate anything that you're doing in your business, delegate it or eliminate it altogether. It's seriously that easy. And it doesn't have to cost you much. In fact, when I had this "come to Jesus" moment in my business (as Oprah calls it), I found that I could bring on non-paid interns and one part-time staffer to take care of it all. And, in the process, I was helping others gain invaluable experience and make money too!
Just imagine how this simple strategy will change your business and your bottom line for the better! Plus, think of how we can impact the economy in such a positive way with all the part-time and full-time help we'll add to our businesses! : )
